Pod2g has done it again the untethered iOS 5.0/5.0.1 jailbreak has been released.

Let’s stretch it more to explain and How to update your iDevice to iOS 5.0/5.0.1.

Compatible Device:

-A4 Devices Only.

-iPhone (4th Generation), iPhone 3GS, iPod (3rd & 4th Generation)

How to update and jailbreak:

1) If you are on iOS 5.0 & using tethered jailbreak please update it to iOS 5.0.1 to make jailbreak more easy.

2)If you don’t want to update to iOS 5.0.1 then download Redsn0w 0.9.10b1 (Link Given Below)

3) How to jailbreak using Redsn0w: 

Step 1: Download RedSn0w 0.9.10b1 from our downloads section.

Step 2: Plug your iDevice in and put it in DFU mode.

Step 3: Launch RedSn0w and click on “Jailbreak” and select “Install Cydia”.

Let RedSn0w work its magic. In just a few moments, your iDevice should reboot and run an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1

If your iDevice (iPad 1st & 2nd Generation, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 & iPHone 4S, iPod 3rd & 4th Generation) not yet update to iOS 5.0.1, you definitely going to miss untethered jailbreak. Untethered jailbreak always tough to achieve.

iOS 5 update now OTA (Over The Air) so there is no solution on restoring iDevice to any other iOS version in future for now while its a different story in iOS 4 because you have to download updated firmware in order to restore/update iDevice. iOS 5 gives DELTA update.

DELTA update save much time to update iDevice but there are some bad signs too.

Saurik (Jay Freeman) the Godfather of Jailbreak has done brilliant solution to update/restore iDevice to any iOS version by saving .SHSH file to Cydia server and modified hosts file to switch update server. Lot of people have done this on there Mac/Windows to restore/update iDevices successfully. Its possible only for non iOS 5 update iDevices because its now OTA so no chance to save .SHSH file which is key to restore/update iDevices.

Latest iOS version: 5.0.1

Latest iOS Beta Version: 5.1 Beta 3

Latest iOS 5.1 Beta 3 Seeded to developer around 3-4 Days ago which has already patched the Corona Untethered which is done by Pod2g to achieve Untethered Jailbreak on latest iOS 5.0.1.

Untethered Jailbreak available on non A5 Devices.

A5 Untethered Jailbreak imminent.

If Apple seeds new 5.1 GM to public, it could be nightmare to iDevice user those who not on iOS 5.0.1/5.0 because they shall never going to update iDevice to iOS 5.0.1 ever.

If you want untethered jailbreak on 4S/iPad 2 please update your iDevice to iOS 5.0.1 before Apple seeds 5.1.

Sandbox broken

Here are some news about the current work on the A5 research.

@planetbeing escaped from the sandbox with the help of @saurik. Thanks to their awesome work, there should be nothing left blocking for the A5 jailbreak.

Now it should be a matter of days. Still no precise ETA of course.
